Child right in Nepal

A child tries to enjoy the right as soon as it takes birth from the womb of its mother. The child gets care affection from its mother. As a result it grows older. Every child should be given  proper affection, primary health care balanced diet, basic requirements like clothing, fooding, favorable  environment , education and so on . The social discrimination and exploitation should be rotted out. The right which a state should ensure the child is known as child right
Children are the future stars a nation. They are the future pillars of a nation. They are the foundation of development. If the foundation is strong the building will be strong and it will last for a long time. In the same way if  the children are given proper care they will be physically and mentally healthy. They can be good citizen of the nation they can contribute a lot for the progress of the nation.
In our country the children are passing miserable life. Some are orphans. They are homeless. Thy are wandering about from place to place. They eat waste food which they find on the road some children are made work hard from morning to evening. They are given torture by the employer. They are depraved of the       opportunity of education and primary health care. They are struggling hard just to solve hard to mouth problem. They are discriminated on the basis of caste, sex. The sons are given more care than the daughters. The scheduled caste children are deprived of ever kinds of opportunity.
In Nepal different agencies are functioning to protect child right the first is CWIN. The other are SOS,STC, UNDP, UNICEF. These agencies are not enough to protect the child right there should be the initiation of all the people in this regard. The local people should be activated.
The conception of child right started in Nepal after the restoration of democracy in 2046 but it is not properly implemented. The law relating to the child right is stated in the constitution of Nepal 2048 in the article 2 sub article 17. Some of them are as follow:

1.       The children below 16 years of  the age are known as children
2.       The children below 14 year of age should not be employed in work from 6 pm to 6 ,am
3.       No child will be compelled to work against the will.
4.       The children will not be discriminated on the basis of  sex, religion, color and  caste.
5.       The name date of birth  birth place and parents name of each child will be maintained.
6.       No child will be given mental torture and behave rudely.
7.        No child below 10 years of age will be given any kinds of punishment.
8.       No child below 14 year of age will be employed as a worker. They will not be given work more than 6 hour daily and 36 hours weekly. They have the right to enjoy a day as holiday every week.
9.       No child wii be made work which affects the health.
10.    Child welfare centers will be set up for orphans. Separate child welfare centers will be set up for mentally retarded children.
11.   Child court will be set up to settle the cases of the child.

Nepal has signed in the international treaty and resolution to safeguard child right. The government is committed to safeguard the child right. But it is not translated into practice. First the government should take initiation. Only the government efforts cannot bring the desired results different non government organizations should be involved. The publicity plays an important role in this regard. Public awareness programmer should be carried out involving the local people. Local leadership should be encouraged. Then and there only we can protect child right.
